John Hagerman loves Christmas and has made it his mission to keep the spirit of Santa alive. One of his favorite memories is sitting at the top of the stairs with his brothers on Christmas morning waiting for his mother to tell them it was okay to come down. When they finally did go down they would be overwhelmed by the sparkling lights on the tree, the carefully arranged packages and the overflowing Christmas stockings.

When John had kids of his own his mother finally revealed her secrets to making Christmas memorable, despite the fact she had little money to spend and three sons to raise on her own. Her example inspired him to continue her traditions with his own children and to write this book.
